This is not good! Russia and China Ditch U.S. Dollar for Bilateral Trade | The Blaze
China and Russia have said they are renouncing the U.S. dollar and will instead use domestic currency in bilateral trade, the International Business Times reports. The move comes in an attempt to “protect” their economies.
The IBT reports:
“We agreed to expand the possibilities for application of national currencies during trade and economic contacts,” said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin after holding talks with the Chinese premier Wen Jiabao.
However, the move is not aimed at challenging the dollar but to protect their economies, as the countries started exploring other options in the wake of the global financial crisis.
With Russian ruble already trading on the Chinese exchange, yuan trade in Moscow is expected to begin in early December.
The bilateral trade between the two countries is estimated to reach above $50 billion by the end of 2010, according to the Russian government. A major chunk of the trade is transacted in US dollars currently.

survival medicine "antibiotics"
Now when we are all setting up our supplies closet or whatever. One of the most important aspects of survival is going to be staying healthy. Obviously, being as healthy as possibly from the start is ideal. I know every couple of years, no matter how healthy I keep myself, I always seem to come down with some kind of cold that knocks me out for a couple of days. For a long time now I have been wanting to get a good stash of antibiotics for my stash of supplies. It's been put off for a while, but now I have finally got my hands on some and it feels like a great relief to have that taken care of. There are a lot of places on the net to pick up some antibiotics for pretty cheap. Get some, better to have them, someone will need them, guaranteed!

urban survival, good or bad?
You will hear many talk about surviving in an urban environment as not being the best scenario. Most talk about heading to the hills, which would probably be my choice also. As I watched a recent youtube post, I start to think about how many resources there would be in an urban area in a "SHTF" situation. Lets see, there will be lots of people trying to leave these areas which means there will be lots of STUFF left behind. There will also be a large choice of home base locations to choose from, multi-story buildings will be ideal because of there views and distance from ground level where most of the gangs and looters will be focusing their attention. Cities also offer great firing lanes for defense. I will be brainstorming this idea more in the next few months, stay tuned. Thanks to Yankeeprepper for some good ideas, check out his youtube, he has lots of good information.

Could the government confiscate your gold and silver?
Could the Government confiscate your gold? However unlikely it may be, yes! With the increasing economic downturn and the ever increasing lack of trust in the Government combined with the fact that Government maintains that it could confiscate gold if the conditions warrant it, what!
At the time of the Great Depression, in 1933, hyperinflation caused FDR to issue an Executive order to forbid the hoarding of all gold coin, bullion and certificates. By doing this, it forces citizens to do business with their devalued money and kept them from setting up any sort of other payment system that the Government couldn't control.

Easy EMP Protection
First off, to those who don't know, EMP stands for Electro Magnetic Pulse. These can be Man Made and , as I understand, they can occur in nature, most commonly from solar flares. A simple protection for some important small electronics can be done as follows.
1) start with a metal container, a military ammo box works good.
2) line the interior of the box with some sort of insulating material, cardboard
will work or a rubber mat from Michael's or somewhere.
3) Make sure nothing (electronics)inside can touch the metal housing.
4) I like to put a strip of aluminum tape where the lid meets the box to make
continuous contact.
Put your stuff inside and it should be protected in case of any sort of EMP.

Get Your Hands on all the Silver you can!
Silver is now at around $23 an oz. China has never allowed it citizens to own metals and has now changed this policy. China will be buying up silver in large quantities , that's for sure. Read this report, it's short, then get any silver you can find, coins, old nickles, dimes, quarters platters even candle sticks. If nothing else it will be a good investment and most can be found very cheap at garage sales ect. http://www.scribd.com/doc/38829206

Prepping when your spouse isn't interested.
How hard is it to prepare yourself and your family for an emergency when your spouse isn't interested or worse thinks you're crazy? I have recently started to see what is going on in the world and not liking what I see. Like a lot of preppers, I am now slowly gathering a decent size pile of supplies and equipment in my home. Needless to say my wife started to look at me a little weird when I showed her my load bearing vest and a few pieces. Since this was new to both of us it is understandable that she thought I was out of my mind and would get irritated whenever I would watch the news or talk about any political or survival subjects. Good news to all in this situation, slowly my wife has started to be less irritated when these subjects come up. Also, she is slightly interested in my prepping for the family. I do tend to get carried away a bit on occasion, bu now she will just roll her eyes and let me do my thing, until it gets to obnoxious. Anyway keep at it everyone and thanks honey, for understanding! P.S. Jus got my new binoculars in yesterday and they are awsome!

New Internet "Censorship Bill"! Wow, this is scary!
Internet entrepreneurs are in a panic over
a fast-tracking Senate bill they say will censor the Web, stifle
Silicon Valley startups, damage the United States' credibility on free
speech and ultimately trigger the creation of an alternate-universe
Internet.
The West Coast engineers say they were
blindsided last Monday when the Combating Online Infringement and
Counterfeits Act was introduced in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The
bill, which could come up for a vote as early as Thursday, has a
bipartisan roster of co-sponsors who say it will be a tool for stopping
the worst offenders in the world of online piracy.
The bill would give the attorney general
new powers to shut down websites deemed dedicated to counterfeit
material -- by going through the courts and by

New Government X-ray van, No more privacy!
WATCH THIS VIDEO HERE Modern technology may be working to keep us safe, but many wonder where the line between safety and privacy lands these days. New technology allows airport security screeners to peak under your clothes and the same x-ray technology is being used by new roving vehicles looking through the exteriors of vehicles and buildings. American Science & Engineering, a company based in Billerica, Mass., has reportedly sold U.S. and foreign government agencies hundreds of these backscatter x-ray scanners mounted in mobile vans.
While the biggest buyer of AS&E’s machines over the last seven years has been the Department of Defense for security operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, Joe Reiss, the company’s vice president of marketing, reports to Forbes that law enforcement agencies have also used the vehicles to investigate terrorist threats within the U.S.

They really want our guns, hum?
WASHINGTON — A report being released Monday by a mayors group finds that nearly half of the guns that crossed state lines and were used in crimes in 2009 were sold in just 10 states.
Those states accounted for nearly 21,000 guns connected to crimes in other states, says the survey by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, an association of more than 500 mayors led by New York‘s Michael Bloomberg and Boston’s Thomas Menino.

U.S. wants more wiretap authority, internet, Scary
The Obama administration is developing plans that would require all Internet-based communication services -- such as encrypted BlackBerry e-mail, Facebook, and Skype -- to be capable of complying with federal wiretap orders, according to a report published Monday.
National security officials and federal law enforcement argue their ability to eavesdrop on terror suspects is increasingly "going dark," The New York Times reported, as more communication takes place via Internet services, rather than by traditional telephone.
The bill, which the White House plans to deliver to Congress next year, would require communication service providers be technically capable of intercepting and decrypting messages, raising serious privacy concerns, the Times said.

Mass Inflation Ahead -- Save Your Nickels!
Updated, February, 2010
I've often mused about how fun it would be to have a time machine and travel back to the early 1960s, and go on a pre-inflation shopping spree. In that era, most used cars were less than $800, and a new-in-the box Colt .45 Automatic sold for $60. In particular, it would be great to go back and get a huge pile of rolls of then-circulating US silver dimes, quarters, and half dollars atface value. (With silver presently around $15.50 per ounce, the US 90% silver (1964 and earlier) coinage is selling wholesale at 11 times face value--that is $11,000 for a $1,000 face value bag.)
The disappearance of 90% silver coins from circulation in the
